On 6-8 September 2017, the fifth edition of the region’s leading security, fire and safety event took place at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, Malaysia. The three-day event was the fifth edition of IFSEC Southeast Asia, which is well-known as a must-attend event for industry players all over the ASEAN.

As the platform where industry players and buyers could discover the latest products in security, fire and safety, the organiser, United Business Media, succeeds in expanding its product and exhibition category, and the most noticeable development was the inclusion of drones. IFSEC Southeast Asia 2017 was the first event to have dedicated a fly zone for drones inside the exhibition hall of KL Convention Centre. The drone zone attracted visitors to witness the maneuverability and advantages of drones, as applicable to the industry.

The fifth edition comprised of 109 companies representing more than 350 world-leading brands, giving the visitors an ample number of options. Major brands such as Entrypass Corporation Sdn Bhd, Seagate, Guangdong Anjubao Digital Technology Co., Ltd, Beijing Landwell Electron Technology Co., Ltd, ComNet, Dahua, Nemtek (Pty) Ltd, Noctura Ltd, InfoWatch Group and others took the opportunity to present on the show floor and showcase their latest products and technologies. With more than 6,300 total attendees mainly from ASEAN countries, the three-day event was the best event for international brands to meet directly with specifiers, installers, distributors and end-users, all under one roof.

In addition to the exhibition, IFSEC Southeast Asia provides the best knowledge centre for the visitors. With daily free conferences taking place on the show floor, visitors had the opportunity to listen to industry experts on the latest industry updates. The line-up of speakers included Natalya Kaspersky, President of Infowatch Group, Mr. James Bitting from Equinox Innovative System, Mr. Bryan Liu from DJI Enterprise and other experts who provided the best insights on various subjects including cybersecurity, drones and other related topics.

IFSEC Southeast Asia was supported by Malaysia’s Ministry of Home Affairs, Royal Malaysia Police, CyberSecurity Malaysia, Asian Professional Security Association (APSA) Malaysia Chapter, British Security Industry Association (BSIA) and ASIS International (Malaysia Chapter) Chartered International Institute of Security and Crisis Management and Malaysia UAV Developments Association. Having authorities and associations supporting the event strengthened IFSEC Southeast Asia’s position as the leading security, fire and safety event in the region.

Moving forward, the 6th edition of IFSEC Southeast Asia will take place in Bangkok from 14 to 16 November 2018. The decision to alternate the editions between Kuala Lumpur and Bangkok starting last year was due to the strong support received from the Royal Thai Police and Thailand Convention and Exhibition Bureau.
