Providing Convenience To Northern Region Customers

Hikvision Malaysia recently held a grand opening of their new branch office in Jelutong, Penang. Strategically located within close proximity to the inner city of George Town, the Penang Bridge and the Free Industrial Zone, the branch office will seek to develop new opportunities and service the needs of existing Hikvision customers and partners from the northern region especially in Kedah, Perlis, Perak and Penang.
The new office, which is over 250 square metres in size, is dedicated to showcasing Hikvision’s core technologies and vertical solutions such as Deep Learning, AcuSense, Machine Vision, Intelligent Traffic Management, Smart Building and City Surveillance. In addition to a large meeting space for conducting discussions and trainings, the office also houses a demo and testing area where customers can experience and test the quality of Hikvision’s products on display.
Gracing the ceremony to officiate the grand opening was Madam Gong You Ying, Commercial Consul, Consulate General of the People’s Republic of China in Penang. Also present were Hikvision’s key partners from the northern region. “We have been working with Hikvision extensively in the past one and a half year, and we find that the quality of their products exceeds our expectations. Ever since the government announced the national policy on Industry 4.0, we have been getting more interest from the manufacturing sector to digitise their processes. With Hikvision’s Machine Learning solutions, we have been able to expand our services to meet the market’s demand for a smarter manufacturing solution,” said KF Lee, Managing Director of CCS Asia Pte Ltd.
According to Hikvision Malaysia Country Director, Huckel Zheng, the company believes in keeping the best standards in service and providing convenience for all its customers. Therefore, apart from having a showroom at the office that allows customers from the northern region to test the products, there will also be a service centre next to it, which is in the midst of completion. Huckel states that this will be the company’s second service centre in Malaysia after Subang Jaya.
When it comes to operating all of Hikvision’s offices and service centres in Malaysia, the company is in favour of hiring locally. Huckel explains, “We have hired local engineers and sent them for training in China to familiarise with our products and solutions. After that, we will have a mixed of Chinese and local staff working together in the Penang & KL offices, providing technical support and product maintenance services.” When asked about the experience of working in Malaysia, Huckel said, “Our Chinese staff enjoy working in Malaysia very much. The food and weather here are great. And the people are hospitable; that makes us happy to support our customers to grow their businesses.”

"In the past, our offices were only set up in capital cities. But as our customer base grows, so does the need to establish more local offices which include a demo room, training facility and service centre to meet customer expectations."

Hikvision expects to continue solid growth in Malaysia through expanding its local presence, providing technical support to its burgeoning customer base, and continuing to develop innovative solutions based on customer needs. The company plans to set up more branches in Malaysia in their effort to provide localised services.
Commenting on Hikvision’s plans for the upcoming year, Viviana Wong, GM, Asia-Pacific at Hikvision Digital Technology said, “The biggest challenge for us is establishing local service expertise where we can deliver products faster and provide instant technical support to our customers. That is why we have increased our focus on partnership efforts within different cities in the ASEAN region."
